Rwanda - Starting to Crank It Up!

Well, I figured I'd better start doing my job as the moderator for this blog and start posting. Doug's a hard taskmaster (not really) and has started the initial organizing... Guys, he actually brings a whip to the meetings! First on the agenda is gathering sponsors for this up coming event. One of the criticisms that we heard from potential sponsors during the first event was, Hey, we didn't know about this and would have loved to have participated! This time we're giving potential sponsors plenty of notice and have been amazed at the response. We already have a cool bike donated by Mazda/Elsworth. Last year's event had incredible raffle prizes...I have a feeling this time, the raffle prizes are going to be even more so. Stand by!

We are also in the process of planning the routes for the event called Upper Rwanda and Lower Rwanda. It will be a 50 miler again... but we are trying to add a couple of new twists to keep it interesting. Roger, Mark and Kim were last seen disappearing down the road... mapping out potential new routes. I hope they don't get lost!

This year (by request) we will have T-shirts for all participants and volunteers... something that we needed last year but could not do in the time that we had. Doug's son, Danny has designed a beautiful brown (great color goes with everything) T-shirt that you will be proud to own and wear. Andy already published a picture in a previous post.

that's about it for now... Oh, by popular request, we will have a wooden bike for the event!

Stay tuned...

Gregg let me know if I can help in any way. I plan on riding in this event the full 50.
